I Want Your Garbage! (The Quickly Decomposing Kind)

Our Vision

Making landfills cleaner and gardens greener! Our goal is to keep as much organic compostable waste out of the landfill as possible, and repurpose it all into fine compost to support a network of gardeners in a wonderfully abundant nutritious loop. We envision a large community of people who are more aware of the waste they produce, especially the waste that is produce…

What is composting and why is it important?

Composting is an intentional act of facilitating natural processes of decomposition in bulk form for the purpose of turning food scraps, green waste(lawn trimmings and clippings) and any organic matter into a nutritious fertilizer, or even be used in production of bio-fuels! This is important to us because of its incredible potential to replenish organic matters and add soil fertility very rapidly.

Did you know that up to 50% of all household waste that you send to the landfill every week is compostable? I want to turn your compostable waste into ‘Black Gold’ nutritious fertile soil to be reused by our local farmers and gardeners to ensure a system that is working WITH NATURE, rather than against it. ‘Compostable’ means that the item is made from organic materials which can be broken down in a short amount of time and utilized to add fertility and organic matter to soil. When compostable wastes are sent to the landfill in trash bags they are prevented from properly breaking down to return nutrients and organic material to the Earth where they are SUPPOSED TO GO to be reused in our great big self-renewing natural system. We are essentially wasting very useful resources in frighteningly large quantities. Not to mention, the organic matter rotting in landfills in anaerobic environments is responsible for a scary amount of methane emissions, 15%+! Let’s end the madness together and create a sustainable full circle system!

Do you care about the beautiful state of our precious Earth? Composting is turning out to be one of the best ways we can support the health and fertility of the Earth for generations to come!

How does our service work?

My service works like this – All you have to do is put your compostable items into my bucket, and I come and pick it up, as often as you choose, (up to 4 times per month/ although more frequent may be discussed in special situations). I create a pooled heap of compostables collected from many different households and businesses, ensure that it’s processed properly, and in a shorter amount of time, end up with richer compost. That’s the beauty of team work! Only I deal with all the funky smells and worry about the ratios! Do you desire to promote a healthy ecosystem by sending less garbage to the landfills and putting more organic matter back into the Earth? Are you a home gardener? Does making little decisions each day about where your food scraps go to help remind you of the cycles of nature sound enticing? Are you someone who wants to get into composting, only you’ve realized you don’t exactly have the time, space, or proper quantity of organic matter produced from your single household to be enough? Well, you aren’t alone! There are plenty of folks just like you, who want some great compost, but simply don’t have the right means to do so on their own! That’s where our composting community comes into play! After just 1 month of membership, you begin to have access to our compost heaps.
